Schools of Mission

A School of Mission is born from the collaboration of the local church and CHORD, where young leaders embark on a journey of spiritual and emotional growth, equipping them to make a profound impact in ministry.

Our Purpose

These schools are designed to prepare students for leadership and ministry by providing them with a solid foundation in their faith and practical skills for serving their communities.

Each school is staffed with local teachers, trainers, and directors who guide the students through their learning journey. The curriculums are tailored to meet the unique cultural and local needs of the students, ensuring that their training is relevant and impactful. The programs typically last between two to three years, depending on the specific goals and requirements of each school.

CHORD Schools of Mission Values

The CHORD Schools of Mission are shaped by seven core values—guiding principles that form our students and anchor every aspect of their leadership training.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission center every course on the spiritual life, guiding students to become more like Jesus through Scripture, community, and the formative “wilderness” seasons of faith.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission cultivate lifelong learners by exposing students to rich spiritual resources, fostering critical thinking and multicultural dialogue, and encouraging curiosity, reflection, and further academic growth for impactful ministry.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission guide students to discover their identity in Christ, fostering self-awareness, humility, and research skills while encouraging open dialogue, learning from mistakes, and understanding the ICOC’s heritage within the wider Christian tradition.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission model the Ephesians 4+ team approach, training students in cohorts and local ministries to build healthy, collaborative church communities that break down the clergy–laity divide and value every member’s gifts.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission nurture a Spirit-filled environment where students discover their unique gifts, learn to serve alongside diverse talents, and receive mentoring from leaders with a wide range of callings and strengths.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission provide hands-on ministry training—covering daily ministerial work, preaching, organizational skills, healthy communication, and 360° feedback—so students grow in character, competence, and spiritual maturity while serving in real church contexts.

  • CHORD Schools of Mission center every course on Jesus—modeling servant leadership, compassion, justice, and disciple-making—so that students grow as grace-filled leaders who share God’s love and embody Christ’s mission in the world.
